Week of 5/23/16 Criminal Felony Convictions:

A criminal defendant has to have been sentenced before he or she is considered “convicted” of a criminal offense in the State of Ohio.

Below are the felony convictions that took place in the Wayne County Common Pleas Court for 5/23/2016 to 5/30/2016:

 

5/25/2016 - Jason C. Lay, 32 year old male from WOOSTER - Case No. 2016 CRC-I 000038

Convicted of Possession of Heroin, F5, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2925.11(A). Sentenced by Judge Mark K. Wiest to: a

term of incarceration of 90 days and a driver's license suspension for 6 months.

 

5/25/2016 - Cleveland Thomas, 70 year old male from Wooster - Case No. 2015 CRC-I 000184

Convicted of Possession of Cocaine, F1, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2925.11(A). Sentenced by Judge Mark K. Wiest to: a

term of incarceration of 3 years and Community Control sanctions in the amount of 5 years.

 

5/25/2016 - Jason Eugene Landfair, 34 year old male from Shreve - Case No. 2015 CRC-I 000287

Convicted of Misuse of Credit Cards, F5, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2913.21(B)(2). Sentenced by Judge Corey E. Spitler

to: a term of incarceration of 1 year and Community Control sanctions in the amount of 2 years. The judge ordered: Write letter of

apology to victim. Additionally the following conditions were imposed: Pay Court Costs / Probation Fees; Standard Terms: Obey All

Laws & Probation Rules, Follow Directions of Probation Officer; Perform Community Service: 50 Hours; Pay Restitution: $3088.53.;

Random Drug Testing; Alcohol / Drug / Mental Health Counseling as Directed by Probation Department; Obtain / Maintain Gainful

Employment; Intensive Supervision Program; Electronic Home Monitoring: Defendant may screen for up to 80 days of jail sentence;

Wayne County Jail: Serve 90 Days; Participate in Cognitive Behaviorial Group.

 

5/25/2016 - Gary J. Franklin, 26 year old male from Akron - Case No. 2016 CRC-I 000077

Convicted of Kidnapping, F1, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2905.01(A)(1) and one additional count. Sentenced by Judge

Corey E. Spitler to: a term of incarceration of 12 years. Additionally the following conditions were imposed: PRC Notification Given.
