Melody L. Briand – Assistant Prosecuting Attorney

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Melody Briand joined the Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney’s office in March of 2014, and until September 2014, worked in the Misdemeanor Divison.  In September, Melody was re-assigned to the Juvenile Division where she prosecuted abuse, dependency and neglect of children cases on behalf of Wayne County Children Services until February of 2017. Melody now specializes in prosecuting both misdemeanor and felony domestic violence cases in both the Wayne County Municipal Court and the Court of Common Pleas. Melody received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Grove City College in 2004, her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Akron School of Law in 2009, and was admitted to the Ohio Bar in May of 2009. While in law school, Melody was the Managing Editor of the Akron Tax Journal, President of the Akron Law Federalist Society, and studied human rights and international law abroad with Regent University School of Law.  Prior to becoming an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Wayne County, she served at the Stark County Public Defender’s Office and worked as a Staff Attorney at ValMark Securities, Inc.
