Week of 9/11/17 Criminal Felony Convictions:

The Wayne County Municipal Court has jurisdiction over misdemeanor level offenses. The following are the criminal case convictions (not including traffic offenses) for 9/11/2017 to 9/18/2017:

 

9/12/2017 - Heidi Catherman, 26 year old female from WOOSTER - Case No. 2017 CR-B 001387

Convicted of Disorderly Conduct, MM, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2917.11(A)(1). Sentenced by Judge Timothy R. VanSickle to: a fine of $50.00. Additionally the following conditions were imposed: Pay Court Costs / Probation Fees.

 

Wayne County Child Support Enforcement Agency Again Recognized for Excellence

Once again the Wayne County Child Support Enforcement Agency was recognized for "Best Performance in Support Order Establishment" in the medium caseload division from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services for the sixth consecutive year. Speaker of the House of Representatives Cliff Rosenberger and Representative Scott Wiggam recently issued a certificate to the agency applauding it for its recent honor and saluting those who have contributed to its success.

9/5/2017 - Derek Hescht, 19 year old male from WOOSTER

Convicted of Possession of Marihuana, MM, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2925.11(A). Sentenced to: a fine of $150.00 and a driver's license suspension for 1 year. Additionally the following conditions were imposed: Pay Court Costs / Probation Fees.

a fine of $150.00. Additionally the following conditions were imposed: Pay Court Costs / Probation Fees.

Claren Gets Life Without Parole

WOOSTER — In all his years as a prosecutor, Mike Rickett told the court, he has never seen a defendant more “callous” and “manipulative” than Paul Claren.

“It is clear that this defendant has a history of retaliating ... the defendant has such hate in his heart,” Rickett said, during Claren’s sentencing Thursday morning.

Claren was given life in prison without the chance for parole by Judge Mark K. Wiest.
