Week of 5/1/23 Criminal Felony Convictions::

A criminal defendant has to have been sentenced before he or she is considered “convicted” of a criminal offense in the State of Ohio. Below are the felony convictions that took place in the Wayne County Common Pleas Court for 5/1/2023 to 5/8/2023:

5/2/2023 – Buddy Wayne Shields, 37-year-old male from WOOSTER – Case No. 2022 CRC-I 000296 Convicted of Having Weapons While Under Disability, F3, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2923.13(A)(2). Sentenced by Judge Corey E. Spitler to: a term of incarceration of 1 year, 6 months and Post Release Control in the amount of 2 years. Additionally, the following conditions were imposed: Pay Court Costs / Probation Fees; Forfeiture of 12 firearms as named in the indictment.

5/2/2023 – Alyssa Nicole Tomion, 23-year-old female from RITTMAN – Case No. 2022 CRC-I 000295 Convicted of Trespass in a Habitation when a Person is Present or Likely to be Present, F4, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2911.12(B). Sentenced by Judge Corey E. Spitler to: Community Control sanctions in the amount of 2 years. The judge ordered: Complete Anger Management course.  Additionally the following conditions were imposed: Pay Court Costs / Probation Fees; Standard Terms: Obey All Laws & Probation Rules, Follow Directions of Probation Officer; Perform Community Service: 50 Hours; Random Drug Testing; Alcohol / Drug / Mental Health Counseling as Directed by Probation Department.

5/3/2023 – Russell Joseph Newman, 25-year-old male from AKRON – Case No. 2021 CRC-I 000033 Convicted of Attempted Aggravated Possession of Drugs (Methamphetamine), M1, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2923.02 / 2925.11(A) and one additional count. Sentenced by Judge Corey E. Spitler to: a term of incarceration of 30 days and Community Control sanctions in the amount of 2 years. Additionally, the following conditions were imposed: Pay Court Costs / Probation Fees; Standard Terms: Obey All Laws & Probation Rules, Follow Directions of Probation Officer; Perform Community Service: 50 Hours; Random Drug Testing; Alcohol / Drug / Mental Health Counseling as Directed by Probation Department; Obtain / Maintain Gainful Employment; Participate in Cognitive Behavioral Group.

5/3/2023 – Brandon Elder, 31-year-old male from ASHLAND – Case No. 2023 CRC-I 000001 Convicted of Possessing Drug Abuse Instruments, M2, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2925.12(A). Sentenced by Judge Timothy R. VanSickle to: Community Control sanctions in the amount of 3 years.

5/3/2023 – Brandon Elder, 31-year-old male from ASHLAND – Case No. 2022 CRC-I 000326 Convicted of Possession of a Fentanyl-Related Compound, F5, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2925.11(A). Sentenced by Judge Timothy R. VanSickle to: Community Control sanctions in the amount of 3 years.

5/3/2023 – Brandon Elder, 31-year-old male from WEST SALEM – Case No. 2022 CRC-I 000400 Convicted of Aggravated Possession of Drugs, F5, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2925.11(A). Sentenced by Judge Timothy R. VanSickle to: Community Control sanctions in the amount of 3 years.

 5/3/2023 – Brandon Elder, 31-year-old male from WOOSTER – Case No. 2022 CRC-I 000450 Convicted of Possession of Drugs, M1, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2925.11(A). Sentenced by Judge Timothy R. VanSickle to: Community Control sanctions in the amount of 3 years.

5/3/2023 – Karessa Gibbons, 42-year-old female from Akron – Case No. 2019 CRC-I 000501 Convicted of Deception to Obtain a Dangerous Drug, F5, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2925.22(A). Sentenced by Judge Timothy R. VanSickle
