Jonathan Hamers – Misdemeanor Division Supervisor and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney

John Hamers, Misdemeanor Division Supervisor and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney oversees the Misdemeanor Division of the office and prosecutes misdemeanor cases in the Wayne County Municipal Court. Prior to joining the Misdemeanor Division of the Prosecutor’s Office, John prosecuted delinquency and unruly cases in the Wayne County Juvenile Court and also assisted in prosecuting cases involving the dependency, neglect, and abuse of children, as well as assisting in the Civil Division of the office by working on some of the many requests the office receives for legal opinions and advice from our numerous civil clients (see Civil Division for more information).  John received a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY Brockport and a Juris Doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in November 2008. He started working for the Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in December 2008, at the Wayne County Child Support Enforcement Agency, but in May 2011, he begain working in the Civil Division and Juvenile Division of the Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. John returned to the Wayne County Child Support Enforcement Agency in August 2013, where he was the supervisor of the Legal Department there until returning again in February 2015 to Juvenile and Civil Divisions. John is a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
