The Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney is seeking a full-time Legal Secretary for work in its Misdemeanor Division.

Description: Legal Secretary–Misdemeanor Division      Wage: $13.65/hr.

Legal Secretary Job Purpose: Provides administrative assistance and support to Prosecuting Attorney and his assistant prosecuting attorneys.
Misdemeanor Division Legal Secretary Job Requirements, Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Extensive familiarity with, and ability to use, Word and Excel software;
2. Ability to learn to use, MatrixPointe software in all aspects of processing Misdemeanor Division cases;
3. Ability to draft a variety of legal documentation;
4. Prepare cases for arraignment;
5. Responsively and courteously handling all incoming inquiries to the office;
6. Inputting reports, including all evidence, documents and media associated therewith, into Matrix;
7. Maintaining, filing and accessing all Misdemeanor Division records;
8. Maintaining and updating any requisite Misdemeanor Division reports (e.g., “After 45 days report”);
9. Preparing paperwork and maintaining files for all Misdemeanor Division cases;
10. Processing sealing of record requests and orders;
11. Subpoenaing and calling off witnesses/officers for any Misdemeanor Division hearings;
12. Maintaining Misdemeanor Division prosecutor’s calendars;
13. Maintaining the voice mail messaging system for after work hours;
14. Maintaining professional appearance of the office;
15. Maintaining case files pursuant to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Record Retention Schedule;
16. Maintaining a professional relationship with outside agencies;
17. Collecting information associated with cases (e.g. BMV packets, criminal convictions and histories);
18. Retrieving, opening, sorting, date-stamping, and distributing incoming mail;
19. Process incoming Misdemeanor Division emails;
20. Retrieving and reviewing case files for following day’s docket;
21. Copying and sending facsimiles of documents to appropriate requestors;
22. Performing duties for the Civil Division, Juvenile Division and/or Felony Division as necessary;
23. Meeting all job safety requirements a that pertain to essential functions; and
24. Any other duties which the Prosecuting Attorney or an assistant prosecuting attorney may assign.
