Week of 5/11/20 Criminal Felony Convictions:

A criminal defendant has to have been sentenced before he or she is considered “convicted” of a criminal offense in the State of Ohio.  Below are the felony convictions that took place in the Wayne County Common Pleas Court for 5/11/2020 to 5/18/2020:

5/13/2020 - David Overmire, 34-year-old male from WOOSTER - Case No. 2019 CRC-I 000231     Convicted of Aggravated Possession of Drugs, F5, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2925.11(A).  Sentenced by Judge Corey E. Spitler to: a term of incarceration of 6 months.  The judge ordered: credit for 43 days served

Judge would entertain the idea of early release if he completes the Cadet program.

5/13/2020 - Adrian Steele, 29-year-old male from WOOSTER - Case No. 2020 CRC-I 000014     Convicted of Domestic Violence, F4, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2919.25(A) and one additional count.  Sentenced by Judge Corey E. Spitler to: a term of incarceration of 133 days.

5/13/2020 - Darren Thomas Wentzel, 28-year-old male from Marshallville - Case No. 2019 CRC-I 000132     Convicted of Theft From a Person in a Protected Class, F4, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2913.02(A)(1).  Sentenced by Judge Corey E. Spitler to: a term of incarceration of 30 days and Community Control sanctions in the amount of 2 years.  Additionally, the following conditions were imposed: Pay Court Costs / Probation Fees; Standard Terms: Obey All Laws & Probation Rules, Follow Directions of Probation Officer; Pay Restitution: 300.

5/13/2020 - Darren Thomas Wentzel, 28-year-old male from Marshallville - Case No. 2018 CRC-I 000291     Convicted of Improperly Handling Firearms In A Motor Vehicle, F5, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2923.16(D)(1) and one additional count.  Sentenced by Judge Corey E. Spitler to: a term of incarceration of 30 days and Community Control sanctions in the amount of 2 years.
