Overview

The Wayne County Victim Witness Assistance Program (WCVWAP) is a program within the Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office that serves all victims of crimes committed in Wayne County.  The mission of the WCVWAP is to reduce the trauma crime causes by providing information (including notice of court dates), support, and advocacy services to victims, witnesses, and their families throughout the criminal justice process.  We strive to support the unique needs of the crime victim by offering free, compassionate, and confidential services.

Our Mission

The mission of the Wayne County Victim Witness Assistance Program (WCVWAP) is to reduce the trauma of crime by providing information, support, and advocacy services to victims, witnesses and their families throughout the criminal justice process.  The WCVWAP is the only program that provides direct victim services to all crime victims in Wayne County.   The WCVWAP notifies victims of information regarding their case, current court dates, information about the criminal justice process, offers courtroom support, referrals to other social service agencies, provides assistance with protection orders, serves as a liaison with law enforcement and prosecutors, and provides assistance with crime victim compensation and victim notification applications.
