Week of 10/18/21 Criminal Felony Convictions:

A criminal defendant has to have been sentenced before he or she is considered “convicted” of a criminal offense in the State of Ohio. Below are the felony convictions that took place in the Wayne County Common Pleas Court for 10/18/2021 to 10/25/2021:

 

10/19/2021 – David Myers, 23-year-old male from Orrville – Case No. 2021 CRC-I 000193

Convicted of Receiving Stolen Property, F4, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2913.51(A). Sentenced by Judge Mark K. Wiest to: a term of incarceration of 1 year.

 

10/20/2021 – Jacob Hurcula, 26-year-old male from Rittman – Case No. 2020 CRC-I 000449

Convicted of Improperly Handling Firearms In A Motor Vehicle, F4, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2923.16(B) and 2 additional counts. Sentenced by Judge Mark K. Wiest to: a fine of $2,000.00. The judge ordered: Credit for time served Additionally the following conditions were imposed: Pay Court Costs / Probation Fees; Forfeiture of of firearm as described in the indictment.

 

10/20/2021 – Noah Wade Smith, 21-year-old male from STERLING – Case No. 2021 CRC-I 000024

Convicted of Possession of a Fentanyl-Related Compound, F5, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2925.11(A). Sentenced by Judge Mark K. Wiest to: Community Control sanctions in the amount of 2 years. Additionally, the following conditions were imposed: Pay Court Costs / Probation Fees; Standard Terms: Obey All Laws & Probation Rules, Follow Directions of Probation Officer; Perform Community Service: 60 Hours; Random Drug Testing; Alcohol / Drug / Mental Health Counseling as Directed by Probation Department; Obtain / Maintain Gainful Employment; Intensive Supervision Program.

 

10/20/2021 – Noah Wade Smith, 21-year-old male from Sterling – Case No. 2021 CRC-I 000029

Convicted of Failure to Comply with an Order or Signal of a Police Officer, F3, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2921.331(B). Sentenced by Judge Mark K. Wiest to: Community Control sanctions in the amount of 2 years and a driver’s license suspension for 3 years. Additionally, the following conditions were imposed: Pay Court Costs / Probation Fees; Standard Terms: Obey All Laws & Probation Rules, Follow Directions of Probation Officer; Perform Community Service: 60 Hours; Random Drug Testing; Alcohol / Drug / Mental Health Counseling as Directed by Probation Department; Obtain / Maintain Gainful Employment; Intensive Supervision Program; Complete Program at Community Based Correctional Facility (4 – 6 months): CBCF.
